The German immigrants frequently used a clay and straw in-fill system in the walls of the half timber structures. We have two sets of pictures for your review with descriptions (soon to follow). The first set allows one to see the technique as used in Paul Phelp's Pomeranian barns (Oconomowoc, WI) in August and September of 2000. Frank Andreson of ProClay supervised a team of volunteers. The second set is at the Lutze Housebarn June 23 to 25 2005, when we put in the first new clay in that building since 1849 as part of our Introduction to German Clay Infill Workshop. We at Centreville Settlement, Inc. and the Lutze HouseBarn will be offering another intermediate level clay infill system workshop in 2020 or 2021, hope to see you there!
